The statute of government, promulgated as a royal decree in 1992, is the country's constitution, although it does not have the full accuracy to be so, but it clarifies responsibilities in state institutions. The statute of government states that the king must govern in accordance with Islamic law and that the Qur'an and Sunnah are the country's constitution.
